a first time yearbook student, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. Not only do we make the yearbook
but we have to take pictures at all out home games, plays, and show choir competitions plus we have to interview
star players, main parts, and soloists while at the same time working on the yearbook pages themselves. I never
could've imagined that these things I've bought since I started school could take so much work.
Most people don’t know what happens behind the scenes of the yearbook. This year the yearbook staff had to
adjust to an entirely new way of making a yearbook. “Walsworth, our amazing publisher, makes this amazing
product called Online Design,
which as you can probably tell
from the name, is entirely
online. Its kind of like Google
Drive for yearbook.” said
senior editor David Lentch.
Another challenge we faced
include only having two
returning students from last
year , most of the staff were all
new so we had to learn the
process of making a yearbook.
“This year in particular
however, we didn't have too
many people returning from
last year. I was used to having
about 3 or 4 editors working
together to get things done, but
this year it all was a lot more
stressful since we only really
had two editors this year, with
one of them leaving due to a
schedule conflict. Its been
tough, but I’ve received a lot
of help from the staff this year
and I’m very grateful for that.”
said Lentch
Next year we plan on
having more people returning
staff members. When asked if
she was coming back next year
Savannah Lakin
said, "yes, because it was a
great experience, it was fun,
and there was always
something to do and help
with." and many others said
they were going come back.
Even with all the
challenges the staff faced this
year, we pushed through and
finished every spread and
plowed over every deadline to
complete our project.
