Although the college primarily consists of resident hall students, there are several
students who are commuters. They make up twenty percent of the college's student
body. Commuters are a part of the campus family and are involved in day-to-day ac
tivities. Sophomore Steve Mater has been commuting for two years and thinks there are
pros and cons in being a commuter. “Commuting has a good side and bad side. The
bad being that I can’t make it to all sport events, activities, and study groups. And the
good is that I always love coming to school because I’m not here to get annoyed by my
friends.” Stephen helps out on Saturday mornings
with a children's hockey class. Being a commuter
allows students to keep up their responsibilities at
home and work as well as take classes. Staying close
to the family is important for some students, and by
commuting they can be college students and still be
close to their families.
