UNIQUE
PERSPECTIVE
TO GAMES.
The energy expended by the Animals as they burst
into the gym wearing their Cougar paw t-shirts and
waving a huge Cougar-head spirit flag was conta
gious. Diffusion of their spirit and enthusiasm moti
vated the crowd to rally the teams to victory. They
used wacky stage dives, humorous antics, and intimi
dating chants to grab the audience's attention. "I love
the attention the Animals get," explained Ariel Soken.
"It's great to make the fans laugh; it makes the game
more fun!" The Animals played a major role in sup
porting the cheerleaders during time-outs and half
time. Also, each Animal had a secret cheerleader to
whom they sent encouraging notes or gifts. The Ani
mals not only spread Cougar spirit to the fans, but also
they encouraged the cheerleaders and players.

From their perch,
