Seniors Look to the
Future at Graduation
LAURA STEWART
For seniors carrying a heavy work load,
their last year could not pass quickly
enough. But graduation day came all too
swiftly for those dreading the separation
from the many friends they had made
during the past four years. On May 2 and
3, the Senior Retreat at Camp Gilead
provided a special time for friends to get
together to reminisce, share testimonies,
and "goof off" together one last time. On
Friday evening, May 9, Dr. Reid Delhman
delivered a special challenge to the senior
class during his baccalaureate address. At
last the big day arrived. The campus
seemed a bit emptier at graduation this
year: fewer cars, fewer security guards,
less traffic congestion. Flowever, a few
miles west of the campus, there was all the
normal activity associated with graduation.
To accommodate the large numbers of
friends and family attending graduation,
the College held its 28th commencement at
Ruth Eckerd Hall. Members of the gradu
ating class of 1997 walked across the
stage, received their diplomas, moved their
tassels and began the rest of their lives.
