It didn't take long for Joe to

                 notice Jane. fi.fter asking

around about her, Joe took a

big chance and asked Jane out on a

date. They visited The Pier in Saint

                 Petersburg, and enjoyed strolling along

                 the waterfront, feeding the seagulls,

and visiting the many shops in the

downtown area. As the shadows be

gan to grow longer, they bought some

ice cream, talked about their homes

and families, and compared their im

pressions on what college life was like.

It was a wonderful time, and neither of

them wanted to say good-bye when

they got back to campus, so they sat

out in front of Jane’s dorm, and chat

ted, enjoying each others company, un

til suddenly, they heard a loud "ping!",

                 and instantly, roughly eighty guys

                 thundered across campus toward the

men’s residence hall. It was the two-

minute bell. Curfew had brought Joe

and Jane’s lovely evening to an end.

Campus life is a curious mix

                 ture of study and socializing.

                 The shade from the huge,

                 spreading live oak tree between

                 the library and Dambach makes

an inviting place to sit and visit.

                 Javier Sampedro, Tyarrar

                 Jones, and Dan Simpson en

                 joyed the ambiance as they

                 paused and compared notes in

                 the morning.
