              FINISH LINE

The end of class ‘A’ competi

        tion and an apprehensive look

at next year's class B’ teams

        wound up Ralston’s sports year.

After years of Metro Conference membership,
Ralston prepared to join the new River City Con
ference, which would lessen the threat of compe
tition. Other changes came with the addition of
two new coaches and several valuable freshman
players. Newcomer Terry Lantz took over the
reigns as boys varsity basketball coach and led
the Rams to a .500 season. Helping the girls
track team to a respectable year was new coach
Chuck Wallersted. There were new faces on the
girls' varsity volleyball team also. Three fresh
man girls became the youngest members on the
        team in years.
In Ram sports history they have not always
been ranked number one. in fact most of the
time they’re not even in the top three. But each
team at Ralston worked hard toward its goals.
Personal improvement and team confidence was
gained through the year even though not many
titles were distributed. To the end the Rams
played hard and always put up a fight. All con
sidered in the sports race through the year, Ral
        ston was definitely a winner.
