Seeking Approval
In a perfect world achieving a goal and proving yourself
would be easy. There wouldn’t be roadblock to stop you
from reaching a goal, and there wouldn't be pressure
because anyone can reach a goal. Unfortunately it’s not a
perfect world. In this not-so-perfect world where you are
always being tested when all you seek is approval, you
have to set goals in order to prove yourself to others by
getting around obstacles separating you from reaching
your goals. Sometimes getting around an obstacle is done
with minimal difficulty and in others just getting around
the roadblock is an achievement in itself. T his happens
all the time in our school’s clubs, such as Math Club, which
set a goal to be more sociable and they were due to
barbecues, sledding and picnics despite the difficulty they
had setting dates so that everyone could attend events. In
addition clubs such as Academic Decathlon, Project Free,
Key Club and others had difficulties with membership or
getting people to attend meetings. Despite membership
problems these clubs must be doing something right and
achieving their goals or otherwise these clubs wouldn’t
exist at our school. All of our school’s clubs set a goal,
attempted to achieve it, reached a roadblock, they stumbled
and fell a couple times trying to get around it, and eventu
ally they got around their problems. The result is they
reached their goals and gained a sense of achievement and
approval. Written by Molly Woodworth
