There is a new program
at Ralston High tnat is
looking forward to becom
ing a club. Chess Club is
in a trial year, Jim Wolfe,
sponsor of the chess pro
gram, said.
Seven students were in
volved in the program, said
Wolfe, and members stud
ied chess strategy, offense,
defense and general rules
to put together a plan of
attack.
All the players were com
petitive, despite the fact
that each player had a dif
ferent degree of skill.
“Some may be better at

The chess program was
open to boys ana girls that
either wanted to play
chess, or learn chess. Next
year the program will be
recognized as a club, and
memoers will compete
with other schools, Wolfe
said. Wolfe noted that
most major high schools do
have competitive chess
clubs.
