Western Australia’s nickel sector






       •  WA’s fourth most valuable minerals sector, nickel

           industry achieved sales of $4.9 billion in the past

           financial year


       •  Important source of jobs – Employment accounted for

           5.3% of the State’s mines and petroleum workforce


       •  Exploration companies have increasingly targeted


           nickel-cobalt in recent years.


       •  China remained the State’s largest nickel customer

           accounting for 64% of nickel exports in 2021.
