Auric,
welcome to the
neighbourhood
Finance man Mark English and his
geologist neighbour, John Utley,
shared only a street address for
15 years until gold exploration
hypotheticals kept bubbling up and
a leap into business was made.
Fast forward to February and the $7.2 million sound of
an IPO bell-ring signalled Auric Mining Ltd’s entry to the
market, with English acting as managing director and
Utley as technical director.
The two have been picking at and drilling across a
portfolios of tenements an hours’ drive south of Kalgoorlie
ever since, staking their place in a different kind of
neighbourhood – trading barbeques and dinner parties for
drill rigs and staking pegs.
Munda stands as the company’s flagship project, located
in the Widgiemooltha portfolio, where Auric completed
28 holes of follow-up RC drilling for 3,116m in August, in
tandem with nine holes for 864m at the Guest prospect.
There was no ambiguity between English and Utley over
the Munda tenement; it would definitely be the focus,
as it became the starting point of the Auric story when
acquired from Estrella Resources Ltd last year for $1.9
million, including performance hurdles and a royalty
cancellation.
