The fuel tax was introduced in
1932 at 1 cent per gallon. Between 1932
and 1993, the tax was raised 8 times to
meet the highway needs of the nation. $2.52 $3.76
The fuel tax is now 18.4 cents per 49%
gallon and has not changed since 1993.
In the past 22 years, the cost of
everything has risen EXCEPT the fuel
tax.
