          Indian Embassy in Brasilia and Indian Consulate in Sao Paulo coordinate efforts to make available special

                                      flights to Indians stranded in the biggest Latin American country

                 lmost 700 Indians who
                 have been stranded in Bra-
        Azil because of the Covid-19
        pandemic have been sent back to
        India  on  special  flights.  “In  the
        biggest ever VBM in LAC region,
        Embassy of India in Brasilia & In-
        dian Consulate in SP facilitated
        the repatriation of 696 Indian na-
        tionals in last 5 days. Kudos team
        @indiainbrazil,” tweeted the In-
        dian Embassy in Brazil on June 8
        when a special Ethiopian Airlines
        flight left for India.
            Diplomats  from  the  Indian
        missions in Brasilia and Sao Paulo
        were present at the airport to over-
        see the entire process of screening
        and boarding of flight.
            “Smoothly facilitated the de-
        parture of Indian nationals strand-
        ed  in  Brazil  by  a  special  charter
        flight operated by Ethiopian Air-
        lines. They are expected to arrive
        in Mumbai tomorrow,” said the In-
        dian Consulate on its twitter page.
            The stranded Indians included
        students, short-term visa workers
        for  Indian  firms,  businesspersons
        and residents who needed to trav-
        el to India for compelling reasons.
            To board the special Ethio-
        pian  Airlines  flight,  the  passen-
        gers arrived at Sao Paulo airport
        at 11:30am to complete all the
        screening and checking. They were
        all given a kit with masks, shields
        and sanitizers. After screening and
        check-in, packed lunch at the air-
        port was organized by Indian Em-
        bassy. “Very hygienic and just like
        homemade meal,” tweeted a pas-
        senger about the food prepared by
        Samosa & Company restaurant in
