Somerville School, Greater Noida celebrated India’s 73 rd
Independence Day with much enthusiasm and patriotic fervour. It was
indeed a proud moment as the Principal, students, staff and parents
gathered in the school premises to hoist the national flag on 15 th
August 2019. Our honourable Principal, Dr. Mary Thomas, unfurled
the national flag and everyone present sang the national anthem.
Principal ma’am delivered an inspirational speech and motivated the
students to become responsible citizens of the country.
The Inner Quadrangle reverberated with patriotic songs as the Indian
Music Choir sang melodiously. Solo performance by Tanishq
Upadhyay of Class IX was appreciated as he sang , ‘Teri Mitti me Mil
Jawan..’. The dance troupe performed on a medley of patriotic songs.
Students of Classes IX and XI staged a Street Play with the tag line
‘Aazadi Chahiye’. They brought to the fore the idea that India needs
freedom from Corruption, Poverty and Pollution etc. and this is
possible only if each individual takes an initiative to do his/her bit.
The senior students recited poems, read out inspirational quotes and
took the audience on a ‘March to Independence’ through their well
written and presented content on the National freedom Struggle.

Principal ma’am appreciated the efforts of the Social Science unfurls the Tricolour
Department in putting up an enlightening presentation .Ma’am also
read out the honourable Deputy Chief Minister’s message for the
people of the state.
