Garland County is located in the state of Arkansas with the county seat and largest city
being Hot Springs. The county was formed in April, 1873 from portions of Hot Spring,
Montgomery, and Saline Counties and was named after the eleventh governor of
Arkansas, Augustus H. Garland. Garland County also comprises the Hot Springs, AR
Metropolitan Statistical Area. The area includes the Hot Springs National Park, the only
national park in the state of Arkansas as well as the first property to be protected under
federal legislation. President Andrew Jackson passed a law in 1832 to preserve the area,
even before Arkansas was admitted as a state.
There is plenty to see and do here in the Garland County and Hot Springs Area. Find
