Market Square is located about two blocks from the Wyndham and offers a wide
variety of dining options including the truly unique The Church Brew Works. The
original historic church built in the early 1900s served the community for years,
but with declining membership, closed in 1993. A rebirth of the ornate building
was completed in 1996 with the opening of Brew Works where beautiful stained
glass windows look down on you. This 8,000 square foot restaurant offers excellent
dining and a large variety of handcrafted beers with room to host “a multitude”
of guests. Another specialty of Pittsburgh in the Strip District, Pamela’s Diner,
specializes in crêpe-style pancakes, omelets, and Lyonnaise potatoes.
Things to do in Pittsburgh include
visiting the Senator John Heinz History
Center. Both adults and children will find
interesting this educational institution
with six floors of exhibits, spanning more
than 250 years of Western Pennsylvania
history. If you have never been to a
baseball park either for a game or just a
tour, schedule a visit to the PNC Park,
where the Pittsburgh Pirates play. The
Pirates started playing baseball in 1887
and won the World Series in 1909,
1925, 1960, 1971, and 1979. They also have a special museum dedicated to one of
their heroes, Roberto Clemente. The Pirates, as well as all the other professional
championship teams in Pittsburgh, wear the colors of Black and Gold.
