Out of the Bag

A Northern Shenandoah Valley, Virginia, golf course
has new ownership in place. Sly Fox Golf Club, formerly
Jackson’s Chase is now owned by Louis Carrozza and
Brian Keller, both businessmen from Northern Virginia.
Carrozza told The Golf Guide that over the next few
months, golfers can expect to see several changes at the
course including general improvements to the course
and clubhouse conditions. He also said that the two plan to widen the fairways,
renovate and return all sand traps, and add additional landscaping. To embrace
the history of the property, which is also part of their goals, they plan to create
a memorial to recognize the land’s saga. In keeping with the times, high speed
internet will be available in their upgraded bar and grill. Players can look for
a tiered membership plan for 2017 in an effort to better fit all golfers’ needs.
Carrozza and Keller have a focused plan, and in an era of many golf courses going
by the wayside, we are happy to see fresh, excited new blood being pumped into the
        golf business.

Six legends of Virginia golf have been inducted into
the Inaugural Class of the Virginia Golf Hall of Fame.
Vinny Giles, Chandler Harper, Clyde Luther, Sam Snead,
Curtis Strange, and Lanny Wadkins were honored at the
ceremony recently held at The Homestead Omni Resort.
The event coincided with the launch of the virtual Virginia Golf Hall of Fame,
which can be found online at virginiagolfhalloffame.com. The website features
rooms and exhibits on all six inductees, along with news and a nomination form
for potential future Hall of Fame members. Snead, Strange, and Wadkins are
members of the World Golf Hall of Fame. They’re also members of the Virginia
Sports Hall of Fame, as are Giles and Harper. Harper and Giles are members
of the Middle Atlantic PGA Hall of Fame, and Harper holds a spot in the PGA
