             Department of History


          Aims of History Programme


              The Department provides a student-oriented undergraduate programme aiming:
          1.   To provide History discipline-specific training to students including concepts, theories,
              approaches, methods, abilities, knowledge, professional practice and ethics pertinent to
              the study of it;
          2.   To  cultivate  in  students  a  broad  and  also  thorough  knowledge  of  China’s  Historical
              evolvement and pertinent issues from ancient to contemporary times, with cross-reference
              to experience of other peoples and cultures;
          3.   To cultivate graduates with balanced and perceptive understanding of Hong Kong and
              China suitable for future leadership and service roles;
          4.   To provide students a set of transferable skills suitable for work or future studies.

          *  From  academic  year 2017/18  onwards,  students  admitted  into  Year  1  shall  complete a  total of  12
