Mk riG With 2 treBle hooks (one reMoVeABle hook)
This is the system Matze uses most when fishing for pike, it is more flexible
than any other. With it you can both deposit the bait at the bottom and let
it drift.
A treble hook is fixed into the base of the tail, preferably directly into the
central fish-bone, the other in the flank. This withstands powerful casts
and the hook characteristics are perfect.

Equipped with the tried and tested two treble hooks, a single hook
takes up the drag during a powerful cast so that the bait is not com-
pressed. The single hook is placed in the lip of the bait. That way one
can perform the cast vigorously without the bait flying off the hook du-
ring casting. In the case of larger baitfish the single hook can happily
disappear completely into the head; it serves less to hook the predator
fish: its purpose is only to make sure it is stable during casting. In additi-
on to this, as with the spin system, a copper wire ensures perfect cas-
ting protection by winding it tight around the bait’s head. When requi-
red it can be removed without any difficulty.

Also in the case of this rig the single hook provides security for long dis-
tance casts. The single hook sits more securely in the head of the baitfish
than a treble hook and should be visible in the case of this rig because
the single hook should also be able to get a hold in the pike’s mouth.

Originally intended for trolling, in order for the bait not to strive to
reach the surface Matze utilises the physical properties of the “miracle
crinkle” to perfectly sound out a hot pike spot by means of a single
cast. Slide the stopper on the line way beyond the expected depth and
cast it out. As soon as the lead ball has arrived at the bottom, reel it in
again, keeping the line taut at the same time. The float will remain
where it is and indicate the exact depth to you. Now the stopper just
needs to be pushed onto the float and the bait will lure perfectly. Matze
uses about two thirds of the recommended load-bearing capacity.
