(2) Plagiarism

The American Psychology Association (2020), defines plagiarism as, “the act of presenting the
words, ideas, or images of another as one’s own; it denies authors credit where credit is due.
Whether deliberate or unintentional, plagiarism violates ethical standards in scholarship” (p.57)

MSSU and Silpakorn University take plagiarism seriously. According to the Silpakorn
University Announcement; Subject: Plagiarism, Originality, in Thesis/Independent study B.E.
                     2564;

x DBA students are required to send their Thesis to be checked for any acts of plagiarism,
and for the originality of their Thesis, with plagiarism detection software, i.e., the “Turnitin
Program”. For convenience, DBA students can send their Thesis or individual manuscript
excerpts to MSSU (by email: DBAMSSU@ms.su.ac.th) to use this service. An originality
report will be then submitted to the DBA students.

x Before the submission of the completed Thesis, DBA students must submit, to the
advisors, the originality report printed from the Turnitin Program as proof against
plagiarism. In the case that the similarity index score is too high, those flagged instances,
which are similar to, or matches against, one or more other sources, must be reviewed
under the consideration of the advisors to avoid deemed plagiarism.
x The consequences of commiting plagiarism will be the de-registration from the DBA
programme without refunds. In the case of severe plagiarism of the DBA Thesis being
proved on a date later after the date of the award of the degree, Silpakorn University Council
shall withdraw the plagiarized Thesis and revoke the degree obtained.

                     (3) Submission of the Thesis to the Committee

Once both advisors consider the Thesis is complete and appropriate for submission for Final
Approval, the DBA student needs to apply for the Thesis Oral Defense. The request of Thesis
Oral Defense can be made via www.reg.su.ac.th. It is then the student’s responsibility to submit
the Thesis to MSSU (by email: DBAMSSU@ms.su.ac.th) at least two weeks before the
                     scheduled exam date.

In terms of copyright ownership, the copyright of the DBA Thesis is retained by Silapkorn
University (Please see Appendix H). The procedure of Thesis Oral Defense will be provided in
                     the next section.
