the year. Fall —
that glorious sea-
son when we pull
sweatshirts out of
storage, grab our
hot chocolate and
head out to watch
our favorite foot-

rival. Or maybe Colby/Thomas County
we just curl up in Chamber of Commerce
a hammock with a
good book and read away a glorious Satur-
day afternoon. Either way, it can’t be beat.
Of course, here at the Chamber, we’re al-
ways thinking way ahead, which means we’ve
catapulted past autumn and landed squarely in
the planning calendar for the snowy months.
We’re already working on ideas for this
year’s Christmas Light’s parade and Santa
City. With a theme like Colby Cowboy Christ-
mas, you can imagine the fun we’re having
with the planning. (Hint: Lottie McLemore is
transforming nutcrackers into cowboys.)
But we have more than nutcrackers and
teddy bears in mind for this holiday season.
In fact, our board is looking at something
special for the week of Thanksgiving. We’ll
fill you in soon.
In the meantime, I would encourage you
to take a minute, stop by the Chamber office
and say hello. We’ll be sure to offer you a
cup of coffee, we can visit for a bit and you
can get a peek at our holiday preps.

Help welcome new residents
to Colby/Thomas County
The Welcome to Your Oasis pro-
gram welcomes new residents, and
serves as an employee recruitment
tool for businesses. New Thomas
County residents are given a bucket
of free gifts including promotion-
al items and fliers from Chamber
member businesses, along with in-
formation about the community.
Members of the Colby/Thom-
as County Chamber of Commerce
have the opportunity to welcome
new residents and/or recruit em-
ployees at the same time. To par-
ticipate, businesses provide a free
gift item for the welcome bucket,
one piece of literature about their
business, and a job application. In
return, at the end of each month
they receive the mailing addresses
of the welcome bucket recipients
to use as a marketing or employee
recruitment tool for their business.

to the Chamber office and pick up
their welcome bucket.
