Packaging Industry is of paramount importance and plays a vital role in the international
trade of goods. Packaging is used in almost every sector in a wide range of industries, such
as food and beverage, healthcare, cosmetics, among other end user sectors.
The Indian packaging market is estimated at USD 56.24 billion in 2021 (in real terms),
registering a Year-on-Year growth rate of 11.82% from 2020. The market is expected to
reach USD 115.21 billion in 2027, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 12.60%.
The demand for packaging in India has expanded drastically, spurred by the rapid growth in
consumer markets, especially in processed food, personal care, and pharmaceutical
end-user industries. Packaging is India’s one of the fastest growing sectors, and over the
last few years, the industry has been a key driver of technology and innovation, contributing
to a variety of manufacturing sectors, including agriculture and the fast-moving consumer
goods (FMCG) sectors.
With a 2020 turnover exceeding € 7.8 billion, the sector of Italian manufacturers of
automatic packaging and wrapping machines is one of the most vital Italian industrial
sectors. It is also one of the Italian sectors with the highest propensity to export, equal to
about 80%. A world leader sector that competes for international leadership with German
manufacturers: over 50% of the automatic machines for wrapping and packaging sold in the
world are Italian or German. The leadership acquired over the years by the Italian
manufacturers of automatic packaging and wrapping machines is based on four
fundamental cornerstones: high technological-qualitative level of the proposed solutions,
extreme customization, punctual after-sales service and strong competitiveness.
The Italian pavilion, organized by the Italian Trade Agency and UCIMA - the Italian
Packaging Machinery Association, is proud to showcase Italian innovation and
cutting-edge technology at Propak India 2022, scheduled from 21st – 23rd September 2022
at Hall 4, Bangalore International Exhibition Centre, Bengaluru, India.
I take this opportunity to wish all the exhibitors, delegates and visitors valuable and fruitful
meetings and success.
