Page 31 - Happy Birthday Rashid Bhaiya
P. 31
As long as I remember I always
longed to come to your home. When
I shifted to Bangalore for a year
during my first standard, I used to
wait for you to come and pick me
up from Jayanagar for weekends
and cry when you used to drop me
back. I remember shifting to
Bangalore from the villages of north
Karnataka.
Time was tough for me as I was intimidated with English speaking high profiled
lifestyle- but not once I remember that you put us down or teased us in Infront of
others. I used to aspire to be like you and look up to you as my own elder brother.
My teenage T-shirts, songs cassettes, games are yours. I enjoyed movies (along with
popcorns, samosas, Pepsi), ice creams, sheekh kabab and phaal at your expenses. My
college shortage of attendance has your signature instead of dad. I remember going
to your house in the early morning at 6.00 AM and wake you up for jogging and
spend my whole day playing table tennis, badminton, cricket, watching cartoons....
return home late evening. Never felt the need of having close friends as the cousins
were so close. Every single time I was in trouble you stepped in, whether it was
college admissions or my marriage.
Yes, now our communications have gone down due to our own lives but, know that I
haven’t forgotten all that you did for me and will always stand behind and support
you, whatever may be the problem. May Allah protect you and reward you for your
good heart and a pure soul.
