How and
where will I
study?
West Highland College UHI and the wider University
of the Highlands and Islands have been delivering
courses for over 10 years that allow for flexibility of
learning styles and course delivery.
With our 10 college centres spread over a wide geographical area, we use
creative teaching approaches for interactive and social learning, whether in the
outdoors, a workshop or an online-classroom. Our courses provide students
with flexibility and what's more, because we use online-classrooms,
many courses can be studied from anywhere.
For most of our full time courses, the week will have scheduled, connected learning time and
flexible learning time. You need to commit to both, but you can choose when to complete
flexible learning to fit with work, caring and personal commitments. Some flexible learning
must be done on a weekly basis.
Social distancing requirements (COVID -19)
Our priority is to provide a safe learning environment for all of our staff and
students at all times.
As and when it is appropriate and safe to do so, your connected learning activity may take
place in the college. However, during periods of social distancing restrictions, some of your
learning may need to move to an online-classroom. This will include a combination of video
conferencing, interactive chat and sharing of presentation slides and other visuals.
Online-classrooms provide you with real time interaction, contact and discussion with your
lecturer and fellow students.
