What our
students say
I started with NC Music, progressed onto HNC Music and am
now studying HND Music.
I began with no music qualifications but a real love of rhythm guitar
which I knew I wanted to develop, move on to lead playing and also
learn bass and gain more confidence in writing and singing my own
songs. The HNC allowed me to develop so many skills in both theory
and practical music making and I was able to specialise in song
writing. We learn how to use Digital Audio Workstations and that
allowed me to create an EP.
I am now studying HND Music. It felt like a natural progression and
will further my understanding of what I can achieve and what I want to
do. Challenge is good and it helps with being creative.
Iain Macdonald. HND Music
I moved from the USA to fulfil a dream to study music.
I studied accordion while completing the HNC and now I'm studying
composition for the HND. Both my teachers are professional musicians.
I love the breadth of this course: the focus on building our careers, as
well as the creative freedom, the support while building our portfolios of
work and the opportunities to co-write.
Here, lecturers and support staff work closely together and are friends
and colleagues in the best sense of the word – they’re willing to share
information and make your student experience as positive as possible.
College staff have a personal attitude towards the work they do with their
students. They seem to view their work as an opportunity to enrich the
community and place where they live.
I have loved my time in Fort William.
