WORKMEN’S COMPENSATION
INSURANCE
• If in any employment personal injury by accident arising out of
and in the course of the employment is caused to a workman, his
employer
shall, save as hereinafter provided, be liable to pay compensation
and any expenses incurred in the treatment and rehabilitation of
such
workmen under section 15 in accordance with the provisions of this
Act.
• An employer shall not be liable to pay compensation in respect of
any injury which does not disable the workman for a period of at
least four
days from earning full wages at the work at which he was
employed.
• No compensation shall be payable in respect of the first four days
of such disablement unless the disablement lasts for a period of at
least
fourteen days.
SOCSO CONTRIBUTIION
• Two social security schemes, namely the Employment Injury
Scheme and the Invalidity Scheme.
• The Employment Injury Scheme provides protection for
employees against contingencies, including occupational disease
and accidents that
occur while travelling in the course of employment.
• The Invalidity Scheme, on the other hand, provides 24 hours
coverage against invalidity or death due to any cause.
