Saffron Border

                                                    Kanoria Art Center ,Ahmedabad 2003
"Saffron Border" which was based on socio political situation in India. This work was done one year
after the communal riots in Godhra, Gujarat, India, where thousands of people were killed and
thousands were left homeless due to communal violence. In this performance I had tried to bring out

my traumatic experience when I was traveling in Ahmadabad in Kalupur station and fear which I
encountered during the riots, also metaphorically comparing my love and obsession to the color

"saffron" and how it turned into color of fear. Basically this performance raised questions of common
man/women, their fears, insecurity, communal harmony, freedom and socio-political rights in the
society. Questions like why history keeps on repeating and when there will be an end to such bloody

violence. Audio, Video and live act were the elements of this performance.
