THE BIG THEATRICAL
RELEASE OF TENET.
hristopher Nolan’s new film Tenet has finally released in
several countries after a month-long delay. USA release
Cdate being September 3rd ,2020 but, Fun Movie Grill
had a pre- release on Aug 31st, 2020.
The espionage thriller stars John David Washington as The
Protagonist, a man who finds himself on a mission to save
the world. No one could possibly mistake “Tenet” as being by
anyone but Christopher Nolan. It has the kind of budget that
only Nolan could get for an original screenplay. There’s so
much money in every bursting frame of this opulent film that
a scene in which gold bars are literally dumped on a runway
feels almost like they will blind you.
This being a Nolan film, it’s nowhere simple to watch – Tenet
comes submerged in the world of time travel in the form of
something never before seen on-screen: time inversion. It
contains one of those time-twisting narratives that have
defined the Nolan brand. If you lose focus on one
scene, you might be left scrambling to catch up.The
key thing to know about time travel in Tenet
is that you are unable to jump to a specific
point in time. If you want to travel back to 40
years ago, you have to live those 40 years in
reverse.
At times, it even seems to echo previous
Nolan projects like an album of remastered
greatest hits. There are war action scenes
that recall “Dunkirk,” an espionage narrative
that feels like “Inception,” and even a whole
lot of people talking through masks a la Bane
in “The Dark Knight Rises.” It is 100% designed
as an experience for people who have unpacked
films like “The Prestige” and “Memento” late
into the night, hoping to give Nolan fans more to
experience than never before, even if it might be
exhausting.
