part in the various competitions held, such as,
badminton, skittles, volleyball, swimming, table-
tennis and gymnastics.
The agreement between the trade union
executive and the sports. the club of the
enterprise is specially aimed at drawing in even
more staff members as regular sports improves
their health and well-being, gives them joy and
relaxation, and promotes their fitness. Therefore
it states: “In accordance with the facilities
available, the two sides define measures which
are to make possible ever more useful and
interesting activities in the fields of sports,
tourism and leisure for our staff members”.
The Sports Committee, subordinate to the
chief director (such committees were established
in all major enterprises following a decision of the
Council of Ministers), sees to it that all measures
get the necessary support from the management
of the enterprise. On this basis sports have been
given ever more importance in the work teams
and departments, and have also become part of
emulation drives.
All work teams which endeavor to secure the
title of “Collective of Socialist Work” are also
advised to pursue some mass sports activities. As
a token for that they receive a mass sports
streamer, which can be obtained by every work
team provided it plays at least two matches per
year in such sports as football, handball,
volleyball, badminton, or table-tennis. Also
participation in the annual championships of the
enterprise are encouraged. At the end of the year
the best work team with regard to sports activities
is awarded a certificate and a bonus. This
emulation for the mass sports streamer gives
great impetus to sports pursuits within the
enterprise. From this also result competitions
