Hello everyone!
It’s Ruby Bhandari again, with a new fashion topic very
close to my heart. I work with a lot of brides on a weekly
basis – both South Asian Americans and non – and while
designing their custom looks for THAT special day, I advise
them to look at recent trends for inspiration. The excitement
of being a South Asian bride is unmatched because of the
it’s my job to make sure that elegance matches the bride’s
dreams.
Here are some trends I am seeing, which shake-up, if not up-
end, the traditional wedding saree:text in them e settings

Wow! Who would have thought of that – a fusion of a
gown and a traditional saree! Very simply, it’s a “pallu”
(or wrap) attached to a gown, which can be paired with a
very elaborate attached or separate blouse. Quite a few
of the Bollywood actresses, as well as Hollywood celebs
like Paris Hilton have been spotted wearing them.
BELT
A recent addition to the fashion scene, it was thrust
in the limelight during the recent wedding of Priyanka
Chopra and Nick Jonas. A belt on the Indian saree will

keep the pallu from tripping you over as you embark on
one of many bridal walks throughout the ceremony. You
can either go with a gorgeously embellished one, or a UNIQUE SOUTH ASIAN
subtledesign.
