SIF BAHRAIN
Science India Forum (SIF) Bahrain was formed on 2nd Nov 2012 by professionals in the fields of science and
EPORT
technology, education, and prominent members of business community in Bahrain. Since its beginning, it has
proved a distinct way of supporting the science education among students. SIF Bahrain proudly shares the joy
of thousands of school children those who have benefited through this initiative. SIF Bahrain is supported on its
educational front by the National Science Movement of India (popularly known as Vijnana Bharati) and ISRO. All
programs are conducted in association with the Embassy of India, Bahrain.
SIF Bahrain is committed to impart the knowledge of India’s rich scientific heritage to the youth in order to
kindle scientific temperament within them. Also, to identify and appreciate students with flair for science and
technology, motivate them to take up science as a career and encourage them to contribute towards advancement
of science and technology. SIF Bahrain also has its share in inculcating moral values in their life.
SIF Bahrain has been conducting Sastra Pratibha Contest (SPC), a science talent search examination among the
Indian curriculum schools in Bahrain in association with Vijnana Bharati and Embassy of India. Sastra Pratibha
Contest is conducted FREE OF COST to all the students.
ACTIVITIES OF SIF-BAHRAIN IN 2013
SPC School Coordinators Meeting
For the successful execution of Sastra Pratibha Contest, it was very vital for
the school to understand the process of the contest. In this context, we met
with the School Principals and requested to depute a representative from
the school. This SPC school coordinator is our point of contact for all SIF

Sastra Pratibha Contest (SPC) 2013
Enrolment for Sastra Pratibha Contest 2013 started in the 3rd week of April
2013. 4325 students enrolled for the contest. The schools that participated

were Asian School, Ibn Al Hythm Islamic School, The Indian School, New
Indian School, New Horizon School, New Millennium School and Quality
Education School.
The SPC-2013 was conducted on 30th May 2013, from 11.00am to 12.00
noon in all participating schools at the same time.
The result of the contest was declared on 24th June 2013 at Indian Embassy
Media hall, by Mr. Gaurav Gandhi, Second Secretary and Head of Chancery,
Embassy of India Bahrain. The 15 toppers (Sastra Pratibhas) were announced
along with the list of “A+” and “A” grade winners.
Sastra Pratibha home visit
The SIF Executive committee visited the homes of each Sastra Pratibha in the
2nd week of September 2013 to congratulate the children and the parents.
This was a unique initiative which helped to build up the relation between
SIF and the Sastra Pratibha families.
Parents’ Meet and Seminar
Science India forum arranged a Parents’ meet on 4th Oct 2013, in Juffair
Grand Hotel. The meeting had a gathering of more than 120 parents, School
A coordinators and teachers. The Hon. President of SIF Bahrain congratulated
the parents for their children’s achievement. During the meet, there was an
informative talk on “Successful Parenting”. A session designed and delivered
by an expert counselor Mr. Syam Kumar. The feedback received from parents
after the session was so encouraging to SIF for delivering such events in
future.
