Blood Donation Camp
            As part of the ongoing our social commitment, SIFBahrain conducted a blood donation
            camp at Salmaniya Medical Complex on 4th Oct. 2013. More than 75 SIF volunteers
            and well-wishers donated blood to the Central Blood Bank, at Salmaniya Hospital,
            Bahrain.

            Award Ceremony
            A felicitation ceremony for honouring the winners, (Sastra Pratibhas, A+ and A grade
            winners) of Sastra Pratibha Contest was conducted on 1st Nov. 2013 at Al Raja School
            Auditorium. The chief guest Padma Vibhooshan Dr. G.Madhavan Nair, former ISRO
            Chairman and Mr. Ram Singh the First Secretary, Embassy of India attended the award
            ceremony. Dr. G.Madhavan Nair delivered a highly inspiring speech and answered the
            questions raised by the students in the open forum during the event. The interactive
            session with scientist was very fruitful and informative to the science loving audience.
            In  addition  to  the  Sastra  Pratibhas,  the  Certificate  of  Merit  jointly  signed  by  the
            Ambassador of India, Secretary General, Vijnana Bharati India and Hon President, SIF
            Bahrain was presented to each A+ Grade achievers at the event.

            ISRO, DRDO and HAL -Bengaluru visit
            SIF Bahrain arranged a 3 day educational tour for the Sastra Pratibhas to Bengaluru
            on 20th Feb 2014. During this trip, the students accompanied by parents could see
            the scientific developments of India at ISRO, DRDO, HAL, Visveswarayya Industrial
            and Technological Museum and interact with the senior scientists. Students had very
            inspiring interactive sessions with Dr. Gopinathan M C, an Environmental Scientist
            and Mr. Jayakumar, Secretary General, Vijnana Bharati. The feedback from the Sastra
            Pratibhas after their visit to Bengaluru was very encouraging to the SIF volunteers and
            the supporters.
            ACTIVITIES OF SIF BAHRAIN IN 2014
            SPC School Coordinators Meeting
            As in the previous year, the SPC Coordinators meeting was conducted on 12th April
            2014, for a presentation on the SPC.
            Registration & Enrolment- 2014
            The Registration for the enrolment to Sastra Pratibha Contest 2014 started in the
            4th week of April. A total of 6478 students enrolled from the participating schools.
            This year Al Noor International School also participated in the contest by registering
            their students. With them  we had Asian School, Al Noor International School, Ibn Al
            Hythm Islamic School, Indian School, New Horizon School, New Millennium School
            and Quality Education School.

            On 2nd June 2014, SPC 2014 was conducted in all participating schools at the same
            time from 11.00 am to 12.00 Noon and it was in line with the timing of SPC 2014 in
            UAE.

            The result of the contest was declared on 23rd June 2014 at Indian Embassy Media
            hall, by Mr. Gaurav Gandhi, Second Secretary and Head of Chancery, Embassy of
            India Bahrain. The 16 toppers (Sastra Pratibhas) were announced along with the list of
            102 “A+ grade” and 498 “A grade” achievers.

            Parents’ Meet and Seminar
            SIF Bahrain organized the winners Parents’ meet on 26th Sept. 2014 at Bahrain Society of Engineers Hall. Our President,
            Mr. Vinod Manikkara, congratulated the parents and children on their achievement in SPC 2014. Advisory board Chairman
            Dr. Ravi Warrier explained the importance of science study, scientific inventions, research and how it was influencing the
            human life. The speech was followed by a session on “Exam Fear Management”. It was very informative about tackling the
            fear of exam, systematic exam preparation and time management. The presentation was delivered by Mr. Syam Kumar, an
            expert counselor. The session concluded with a 5 minutes meditation exercise for relaxation.
            The feedback from the parents keeps us inspired to do more such events.
            Blood Donation Camp
            SIF Bahrain supported the Ministry of Health once again by donating blood to the Central Blood
            Bank  at  Salmaniya  Medical  Centre  Bahrain.  Approximately,  100  Volunteers  and  well  wishers
            donated blood in this community support activity held on 3rd October 2014.

            I can confidently say that we had a very fruitful journey during the last two years of voluntary
            work  to  the  society.  I  take  this  opportunity  to  express  my  sincere  gratitude  to  the  Executive
            Committee, Volunteers, Supporters and well-wishers for their self less efforts towards achieving
            success in our goal to promote science.
