subject “A Bird’s Eye view into some of the Frontier Areas of Computer Science”,
Dr. Sanjay Tiwari on the subject Photonics, “A key enabling Technology for Bright
Future” and Dr. Shikha Tiwari spoke on “Role of Forensic Science in Criminal Justice
System”. More than 500 students participated in the session. The session was very
informative and interesting to the science loving students, teachers and parents.
SASTRAYAAN
SIF Bahrain arranged a 4 day educational trip “SASTRAYAAN-2016” for the Sastra
Pratibhas to Hyderabad on 26 to 30 Jan 2016. A 40 member team comprising of
Sastra Pratibhas, their accompanying parents and the SIF representatives.
First day, 27th January, the Sastrayaan team visited India’s leading institute of
nutrition research; National Institute of Nutrition (NIN). We had an interactive
SIF BAHRAIN 2015-16 session with some of the senior scientists at NIN. After that we were taken around the
institution, to its various research labs. Post lunch, we proceeded to Indian National
Centre for ocean Information Services (INCOIS).
The next day, 28th January, the Sastrayaan team ventured to the Centre for Cellular
and Molecular Biology (CCMB). It was an eye-opener into the interesting field of
microbiology. Post-lunch we visited the Indian Institute of Chemical Technology
(IICT). It was a fascinating experience where the students gained a lot of knowledge on
the advances of our nation in the field of chemistry. After the visit to IICT we proceeded
back to NIN where the students interacted with the research scholars of NIN and also
T witnessed an entertaining cultural programme
On the third day, 29th January, the Sastrayaan team entered the world of missile
OR Development organization (DRDO). We saw a museum where scaled down models
technology: the Research Centre Imarat (RCI), a branch of Defence Research and
of Indian missiles and their components were exhibited and also real scale models of
missiles like Prithvi and Agni. We got a unique opportunity to interact with the Director
of RCI, Dr. G. Satheesh Reddy. During Lunch all our Sastra Pratibhas interacted with
the Sr. Scientists of DRDO.
EP The feedback from the Sastra Pratibhas after their visit to these prestigious institutions
in Hyderabad, was very encouraging to the SIF volunteers and the supporters.
ANNUAl MeeTINg oF SIF
The annual meeting of SIF Bahrain was convened on 19th March 2016. All members
were invited and full participation was seen at the meeting. SIF’s 2015 activities were
discussed. Once again everyone’s experience/feedback was requested on the ways to
improve the quality of SPC. The internal audited accounts statement was presented
R and passed. The new executive committee was elected for the new term.

SPC INITIATIoN MeeTINg
L For the successful execution of Sastra Pratibha Contest, it was very vital for the school
to understand the process of the contest. In this context, we arranged an initiation
meeting. Most of the Coordinators were the same as last year.
NNUA their questions were clarified.
SPC Initiation meeting was conducted on 9th April, 2016. During that meeting, a brief
presentation on the SP Contest procedure was briefed to the school coordinators and
SASTRA PRATIBHA CoNTeST [SPC]
Enrolment for Sastra Pratibha Contest-2016 started in the last week of April 2016.
8087 students enrolled for the contest this year. The schools that participated were
Asian School, The Indian School, New Indian School, New Horizon School, New
Millennium School, Bahrain Indian School, Al Noor International School and Quality
Education School.
In Bahrain, the Level-1 of SPC-2016 was conducted on 2nd June 2016, from 11.00am
to 12.00 noon in all participating schools at the same time. The same day the answer sheets are collected from schools and
