Linking Verbs
A linking verb connects the subject of a sentence with a word that gives
information about the subject, such as a condition or relationship.
They do not show any action; they simply link the subject with the
rest of the sentence. For example, in the sentence "The ball is red.” 'is'
is a linking verb that connects the subject, ball, to information about
that subject.
Linking Verbs: be (is, are, …), become, seem, feel, sound, taste, look,
smell, appear, remain, stay, prove, turn, etc.
