to meet other organizational needs.
In the case of lateral transfers, the employee's pay rate will remain unchanged at the time
of transfer, and the evaluation date will not change.
W. Job Reclassification
Reclassification of positions in City government is necessary when significant changes in
job duties occur. Reclassification requests and a completed Position Description Questionnaire
must be submitted by the department head to the Human Resources Department for study. The
need for reclassification will be determined by the Human Resources Department study. A
reclassification is considered to be a change of job title and band or Market Reference Point
within the same band that reflects the significant changes in job duties.
Employees who are reclassified to a higher band or Market Reference Point within the
same band will receive a sufficient percentage increase to place their salary at 90% of the new
Market Reference Point (MRP) but not less than 5%. If the salary prior to reclassification is
above 90% MRP for the new pay grade, the minimum of the new competitive market range, a
5% increase in pay will be granted, provided the 5% increase does not exceed the maximum of
the assigned band. Reclassified employees will retain their current evaluation date.
