Homestay is where students stay with a family in their home. Host Families are within easy reach of
Preston city centre with a maximum journey time of no more than 25 minutes by bus or on foot. Most
host families usually accommodate one student, although some can take two or more.
Our Host Families
Our Host families are carefully selected to ensure a friendly, safe, secure environment in which
students can study, relax and integrate. All our families meet the government’s enhanced DBS
standard, and are also personally vetted by our Accommodation Officer. They reflect the mix of
cultures and people who live in Preston; there is no one standard Host family. Hosts range from
families with young children to couples and single people. Some have pets, usually cats or dogs, but
students will always be asked if they are happy living with pets.
Students are encouraged to spend time with their Host family in the evenings and during weekends.
This helps improve English language skills and provides an understanding of British life and culture.
