holdouts for keeping the traditional schedule for running an event,
they continue to hold Dressage, cross country, then show Jump-
ing in reverse order, making a real competition to the very end! I
will support these Venues with our awards!
gmha— We identified 26 IDs & IDshs! Ballingowan Zeal and
shanon Baker earned our award in the Intermediate Division;
cIc*---DhI toy Boy and matthew Bryner; Preliminary---Porter
creek and erin renfroe; training---King’s mustard and Barbara
cassani; Novice---gurruan Jessabelle and Nancy henderson;
Beginner Novice---sportsfield Jinx and lulu feeney.
there was much competition in the levels between the Irish
Draught-bred horses---in training, there were several horses in
the 3 divisions sitting in 1st & 2nd—I had to wait until all the
cross-country scores were posted and the division winners were
announced before I was able to tabulate the winner of our award!
a good feeling!
IrIsh Draughts & IrIsh Draught sPort horses IN
the huNter/JumPer shoW WorlD: at the New york state
horse Breeders association, the Ner awarded the high point Irish
Draught-bred horse at the show at the New york state fairgrounds
in syracuse, Ny to Kim hannum and look No further, ID mare,
by corcullen. candace martin yackel and aisling, IDsh mare by
corcullen, earned the reserve ribbon and trophy.
candace was the driving force behind this endeavor and we
were warmly received by the management for this show.
We hope to build on this foray into the show world and
encourage more Irish Draught-bred horses to attend and compete!
at the elmira arabian sport horse classic show, we awarded Kim
hannum and look No further the championship Prize and also
*found* ed lake and his IDsh mare, shannyndoah’s Pearl by
mountain Pearl out of an arabian. ed heard about our Irish awards
and approached us to compete for our awards! they earned the
reserve championship honors.
We also had awards set up for the 50th anniversary connemara
show but had no entries from our ranks. We will try this venue
again in 2017 and hope for better participation.
owners have asked for classes and awards to be set up in open
shows, so we look forward to more entries as the word gets
around!

IDs & IDshs IN Dressage shoWs:
the mid ohio Dressage association approached us to include
awards for Irish Draught-bred horses in their Dressage shows! We
were happy to provide trophies & ribbons for the highest placing
Irish horses and acquired a new member, Barbara lightner and Bt
macDiamond were the champions of the show. reserve went to
fernhill ceyenne.
We plan to continue to support our Irish horses at these venues
and hope to see more participants as the word gets around!
mhuNter Paces:
ay 22nd, may 25th and November 6th, at sarah Batz-
ing’s farm in caledonia, Ny—We had record numbers
of participants this year at all three of our New york
hunter Paces! the money earned goes to funding the awards and
sponsorships the Ner carries on during each season. sarah Batz-
ing, member & owner of five Irish horses, generously organizes
these Paces on her farm, setting up the courses, buying jumps to
lay out and rounding up the helpers for each Pace. We are very
grateful and thank sarah heartily!

Intrepid cori oehley, daughter Jamie and hard-working mary ellen
