2016 Year-End Award Results

KIKo: champion - Driving level 1. Desert Pearl
owned and driven by Boo fitch.
Kiko had a light year in 2016. she continued her training in ridden
dressage as it is wonderful cross training for combined Driving.
she remains working at third level dressage. she travelled to the
hermitage classic cDe outside of louisville Ky in the fall and got to
compete and run around around these huge 10’ by 10’ tall plastic
pink snails decorating the obstacle. In typical Kiko style she took all in
stride. she will be competing in the 2017 Driving triple crown in fl.
Kiko at 14 years old remains very sound and very competitive. she is
a testament to the breed for sure.

Desert Pearl by Bridon Beale street is one of the most willing and
tractable horses I have ever owned. he moved up to Preliminary this
year and also excelled at Jumpers. I believe he only had two rails all
year in stadium jumping. although his mom (monique, a lusitano/
Paint/tB cross) is just a plain little mare, Desert Pearl (barn name
Wyatt) has size and presence galore, and even lets an old gal ride
him!

my heart was pounding as we walked down the lane to cross-country
warm-up. the course walk, normally a calming activity that helps me
develop a game plan, only exacerbated the roller-coaster of emotions.
fitch’s corner, a beautiful slice of heaven in the hudson Valley re-
gion of New york, isn’t the place where most people move up a level.
