Based on the diagram above, state the roles of plants and animals in the water cycle.

(i) Tumbuhan menyerap air daripada tanah dan membebaskan wap air melalui
transpirasi . Tumbuhan juga membebaskan wap air melalui respirasi .

Plants absorb water from the soil and release water vapour through transpiration . Plants also release
water vapour through respiration .

(ii) Haiwan menjalankan respirasi , perkumuhan dan penyahtinjaan yang
wap air ke persekitaran. Proses ini meningkatkan kandungan
air di atmosfera.

Animals carry out respiration , excretion and defecation that release water vapour
into the atmosphere. These processes increase the water content in the atmosphere.

How can the existence of plants prevent soil erosion?
Akar tumbuhan mencengkam tanah dengan kukuh yang menjadikan struktur tanah lebih padat. Oleh itu,
aliran air di bawah tanah menjadi lebih perlahan dan hakisan tanah dapat dielakkan.

The roots of the plants grip the soil tightly, making the soil structure more compact. Therefore, the flow of water underground becomes
slower and soil erosion is prevented.
