Students are the root of development in a country. They play a very important and big
role in the development of their country. You can never hope for a successful country
if there are no educated people and policies for better education. Students who learn

today will work for the future of the country. In the near or far future they are the
pillars of public, government and private sector and the country also depends on them.
What then are their contribution to the country?
In groups, discuss how we, as students can contribute to the country. Consider the PENDIDIKAN SIVIK
following:
• doing well in our studies
• making contributions to the school, family and neighbourhood
Activity 1 • doing well in the non-academic field
Each member in the group is asked to write five lines on:
What do I, as a good citizen, want to do for the country?
Then present it to the class either as a group or individual effort.
Good citizens can and may provide good leadership. Answer the following:
• Explain the meaning of leadership.
• Is good leadership associated with good citizenship?
• How do students provide good leadership?
Activity 2
• Can leadership be seen in the following fields?
• Academic
• Non-academic – sports, co-curricular activities
• School environment – learning environment, green environment
In groups, produce a project on one of the following:
• Prominent public figures and their contributions
• Prominent school figures and their contributions

• List of events carried out by the state or district to encourage public participation
