G Homographs

Each of two or more words which have the same spelling but have different meanings and may
have different pronunciations.

Homograph Meaning

bass • the set of low musical sounds on a radio
• a type of fish in rivers or seas

bat • a small mouse-like animal with wings which flies at night
• a specially-shaped piece of wood used to hit a ball

bow • a knot with two curved parts and two loose ends
• to bend your body forward as a way of showing respect or to thank people
who have just watched your performance

content • a state of happiness and peacefulness
• what is included in something

minute • a unit of time which consists 60 seconds
• extremely small

object • a thing which you can see or touch
• to express dislike of someone or something

produce • to make something
• agriculture products such as fresh fruits and vegetables

number • an amount or total

• to say that you will not accept something

row • a line of objects/people arranged next to each other
• to make a boat move through water by pushing against the water with oars

• a unit of time which is equal to 60th of a minute

tear • to pull apart
• a drop of salty liquid which flows from the eye

wound • a cut in the skin
• past tense of wind: to turn or cause something to turn
