            Confused Words

        There are lots of words in English that look or sound alike but have very different
        meanings, such as pore and pour or flaunt and flout. It’s easy to get them confused.




        Practice 10   For each of the following sentences underline the correct word.
          1.  The  rich  man  is  unable  to  (emphasise  /  empathise)  with  the  sufferings  of  the
            poor.

            Use the Right Word
        Certain actions or things can be better or more suitably described with the use
        of certain words in a particular sentence more than others. The meaning becomes
        clearer.
