         0  are      The noun phrase Extreme sports is plural thus the verb that follows should be
                     in the plural form. Hence the answer is are.

         9  gets     The text is about sports and is written in the present tense. The subject it is
                     singular  and  therefore  takes  a  singular  verb.  The  answer  for  question  9  is
                     therefore gets.
 Chapter 1  10  scariest  Question 10 is a test of the use of superlatives in  adjectives. The  article  the

                     shows that the adjective scary that follows should be in the superlative form.
                     The answer is therefore scariest.
         11  who     The answer is who and not whom as the relative pronoun refers to the word
                     people in the subject position.

         12  them    The answer should be them and not it as the noun phrase referred to is the
                     fears in life which is plural.
         13  safest  The answer is safest and not safe because this is the superlative rules.
         14  go      Question 14 is a test on subject verb agreement. The subject of the sentence
                     A lot of safety testing and scientific calculations is plural and thus take a plural
                     verb go.
         15  to      The answer is to as the preposition to shows the range of calculations
                     involved.
         16  who     The answer is who and not whom as the relative pronoun refers to
                     the word those in the subject position.
