                    2.1 Human Skeletal System

                  	 1. Human	skeletal	system	consists	of	the	bones	in	the	body.

                                                           Skull	–	Protects	the	brain
                                                           from	injury

Rib	–	Protects	the	internal	organs

                                                           Backbones	–	Supports	the	body

Hand	bone	–	As	support	and
                                                           movement

Leg	bone	–	As	support	and
                                                           movement

                  	 2. Joint	is	a	meeting	point	of	two	or	more	bones.	The	circled	parts	in	the	diagram	above	are	the	joints
                      located	in	human	body.
                  	 3. We	need	joints	to	move	our	bodies.	Joints	enable	movements	and	f exibility	of	the	body.
                  	 4. The	functions	of	joints:
                       (a) Joint	at	the	neck	bone	enables	head	movement	in	rotation	or	turning	motion.
                       (b) Joint	at	the	shoulder	bone,	hand	bone	and	backbone	enables	movement	of	the	upper	part	of
                          the	body.
                       (c) Joint	at	the	shoulder	bone	enables	movement	of	the	hand	backward,	forward,	to	the	side	or
                          doing	a	rotation.
