City celebrates 125th

Deer Park celebrated the 125th anniversary of its founding in grand style
in November. Families from across the community descended upon the
South Campus for the rock stylings of 7 Mile Perimeter and headliner and
rising country music star RaeLynn. US Rep Brian Babin also presented the
city with a special proclamation.

It was a celebration 125 years in the making and it did not disappoint.

Thousands of residents gathered at the outdoor venue in the Clyde Abshier
Stadium parking lot for family events, food trucks and live music featuring
Shell’s 7 Mile Perimeter and rising country music star RaeLynn.

The 23-year-old Baytown native has climbed to the top of country music
charts since wowing national audiences on NBC’s The Voice.

“Anytime I can perform in Texas, I’m a happy girl. Being in Deer Park is just
like coming home,” she said.

Her debut single “God Made Girls” went gold and was carried on an EP that
reached No. 49 of the Billboard 200 and No. 7 on the top country album
charts.
