Writing
Let’s spell them right.
There is a spelling rule when we change nouns and verbs ending with ‘-y’.
Nouns
If a singular noun ends with a vowel before ‘-y’, we just add ‘-s’ for the plural.
Example: Singular Plural
boy boys
However, if a singular noun ends with a consonant before ‘-y’, we remove the
‘-y’ and add ‘-ies’ for the plural.
Example: Singular Plural
candy candies
Verbs
If a verb ends with a vowel before ‘-y’, we just add ‘-s’ for the third person
singular.
Example: He / she /it plays
However, if a verb ends with a consonant before ‘-y’, we remove the ‘-y’ and
add ‘-ies’ for the third person singular.
