The verbs in the sentences above are written in the simple present tense.
We use the simple present tense:
(a) to show habits, regular actions or to refer to present time.
Examples: I brush my teeth every day. (habit)
She teaches English every Saturday. (regular action)
We are hungry. (present time)
(b) to state general facts
Examples: The earth is round.
