Let’s learn and practise.

Water keeps us healthy.
When we exercise regularly we will be able to keep ourselves fit and healthy.
It is recommended to drink at least eight glasses of water per day.

The phrases in bold above follow the rule of Subject-Verb Agreement.
A simple sentence has a subject and a verb.
A singular subject is followed by a singular verb.

Examples:

He walks around the lake every morning.
Note: I and you
although singular,
Kamini is at school. require plural forms of
verbs.
You sing like a professional.

A plural subject is followed by a plural verb.

Examples:

They have three children.

We do not know the answers for the comprehension questions.

Asin and Lee Ann rarely eat fast food.

The animals are placed in the zoo.
