Welcome to Glen View Club and
the 119th Western Amateur Championship

Dear Western Amateur Patrons,
On behalf of the Board of Directors, our members and the staff of Glen View
Club, it is my pleasure to welcome you to our historic grounds and to thank
you for your support of this highly prestigious amateur golf event.
It is our club’s privilege to host the 119th such tournament after hosting the
very first in 1899. During the late 19th and early 20th centuries, both the
Western Golf Association and Glen View Club played prominent roles in
advancing the great game of golf west of the Alleghenies. We are proud of
our long and meaningful association with this great organization. As a
predominantly “caddie club,” we are thrilled to participate in any event
that supports the Evans Scholars Foundation.
We hope you might find interest in some of the history recounted inside this
program. More importantly, we hope you will appreciate that as you walk the
fairways of our golf course, the routing of the holes remains essentially the
same as when the very first participants in the Western Amateur tested their
