5.1. Read the following sentences.
a. Sita didn’t speak because her mouth had a pain.
b. Sita’s mouth had a pain so she didn’t speak.
c. Smriti screamed with fear
because she saw a big cat.
d. Prerana saw a big cat so she
screamed with fear.
e. We go to the market to shop what we need.
f. I called Khoya to wish her a happy birthday.
g. He has been learning Spanish in order to get a visa for
Spain.
The words in red in the above sentences join two different
sentences and are called connectives.

before the reason or cause.
