to conquer these small states. He conquered Kathmandu and
declared it the capital of Nepal in 1825 B.S. He conquered many
other principalities and made Nepal bigger and more powerful.
The people of Nepal were happier during his rule. He kept a
good relation with other countries too and protected our
country from being conquered by the powerful British rulers.

He died on 1 Magh 1831 at the age of 52. According to the B.S.

calendar, 27 Poush is the birthday of Prithvi Narayan Shah.
It’s actually a day of great glory for all the Nepalese. Nepal had
been observing this day as the ‘National Unity Day” for a few
years but now we don’t. However it is a great day to remember.
